Continuous volcanic eruption has given a resemblance of the moon surface to Cappadocia, a region in Turkey. Tufa was the soft stone formed after the wind and water hit the rocks. The stones were in the shape of the cones like anthills, called as fairy chimneys. The people when they saw these cones felt that it would be a suitable place for their dwelling. Christians in the third century AD used these cones as hiding place when the roman and Muslim mistreated them. Now, Turkish businessmen have converted these cones into homes with some modification and renovations without disturbing the structure of the original cones.
